I’m relieved that 1801 wasn’t sent for scrap. This classic locomotive will be missed, but it’s going to a new location. Seen it in Eugene before at least once in my life.

This engine, is almost like a Soviet steam locomotive class AA Andey Andreyev (Андрей Андреев), which was build in 1930. But Andrey Andreyev, I gues, was a bit more tall, long and massive. It had SEVEN drive axles (14 driving wheels) on UNSHARED hard frame chassis and this was it's main problem. It wasn't able to make any turns and bents and it always went off the rails on switch. It also couldn't place in any sheds because of it's enormous size. So they stopped using this locomotive and in 1960s Andrey Andreyev was completely scrapped.

Man....this is why i like Amtrak. They have my favorite type of passenger locomotives and they decided to make them sound even better!

Steam trains have the best sounding whistle/horn, but nothing can beat the sound i grew up with.
